(Yes, I realize this probably seems like I am slowly becoming uke-obsessed... I'm not, but the fact is, my appreciation - and affection - for this odd little instrument is growing rapidly... )


Soon after I posted my recent entry on ukeleles, the talented and very cute Molly won the Ukelele Video of the Year Award from UkeleleHunt.com for her rendition of Jonathan Coulton's "Tom Cruise Crazy" Congratulations to her!!

Even better, though, around the same time she posted a new performance video - this time of an original song she wrote herself. You've just got to check this out....!




Of course, one can't look at one uke video on YouTube without checking out some of the related links... which tend to be more uke videos. But I will put these under a cut to spare those who are not as, er, appreciative of ukes...

This next video is one of the most impressive performances I've ever heard on a string instrument of any sort. I have to say, my appreciation of the possibilities of ukelelei (sic) just shot thru the roof!



It turns out the performer, Jake, has some further links and videos at Midnight Ukelele Disco,
which appears to be a community cable show all about ukes - produced in Manhattan, of course. Why I'm not surprised to find such a place, the level of performances is quite amazing...
