In light of the hullabaloo about an Iranian "engagement" with the US Navy in the Strait of Hormuz, this recently released report from the National Security Agency takes on particular importance: it says the Gulf of Tonkin Incident (which was used as the justification for Johnson's major escalation in Vietnam) NEVER HAPPENED. I ran across this report by complete accident, because why would the MSM discuss a story like this, when the party line is that the Iranians are nuts and so of course they would do crazy stuff like this. However, an Iranian-American blog on HuffPo gives about half a dozen reasons why the video and audio that the Pentagon provided seems completely faked. Never mind how the video doesn't show much, and the audio doesn't go with the video... His reasons include some very clear points about how native Iranians speak English, and how the Pentagon-provided audio doesn't match that pattern - a pretty strong argument, if you ask me. He also points out how the Iranians love to toot their own horns when they tweak the Americans, and yet even the Revolutionary Guards are saying they didn't do it... what, they want to look wussy? I hate to say it, but several weeks and many news cycles after the release of the NIE that took the war with Iran off the table, I'd say it's back on, and with a vengeance. *shudder* Tags: bullshit, government conspiracy, gulf of tonkin, iran, lies, nsa Current Location: At Work, but almost outa here Current Mood: distressed Current Music: None
